Al-Jazeera Interview
Aljazeera Television giving the focus to Maldives on their programme "101 East". Minister for Legal Reform, Information and Arts, Mohamed Nasheed, Chairperson MDP, Mohamed Nasheed and President of IDP, Umar Naseer were the three who took part in the discussions.
The discussion was focused mainly on rise of extremisim in Maldives, reform and change.

Beyond The Tourists Eye in Colombo
Colombo, 26 June 2007; The first Maldivian art exhibition formally organized by a government agency to tour abroad has opened in Colombo, Sri Lanka. At a function held at the National Art Gallery, Sri Lanka, today, the exhibition ‘Beyond the Tourists’ Eye’ was inaugurated by the Minister of Cultural Affairs, Sri Lanka, Honorable Mahindha Yapa Abeywardana. The Minister of State for Arts, Maldives, Honorable Hussain Shihab and the Maldivian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka, Dr. Mohamed Asim also took part in, and spoke at the ceremony -
Private Broadcasters License Agreement Ceremony
Thu 14th June 2007, 2:03 pmCapital Radio 95.6 (Asna Maldives Private Limited), Dhi FM 95.2 (Maldives Media Company Private Limited), and Atoll Television, (Atoll Investment Maldives Private Limited) signed the private broadcasting contract with the Ministry of Information and Arts today. Starting from today these three licensed parties are entitled to legally operate as broadcasters in the Maldives.

NCA Band Photos
More than 360 students to perform in 12 bands, ranging from percussion bands, junior school bands, brass bands, pop bands, to rock bands.
The Schools’ Band Festival 2007 pioneer event will be held at Olympus, on the 8th and 9th June, afternoon 4pm, and evening 8pm. Tickets at 10, 15, 20, available from Olympus NOW.
The bands will perform a rich repertoire including lots of original Dhivehi tunes and songs. Come one, come all! Bring the whole family! Bring your friends! Bring their friends! Support our young musicians! -

Lunch Visit - WPFD
2 May 2007, the Minister of Information and Arts, Mohamed Nasheed made a surprise visit during the lunch break and gave a speech and took questions from the participants of the World Press Freedom Day. -
Lecture - WPFD
Dr. Javed Jabbar a former Information Minister of Pakistan also one of the foreign delegates in the Maldives to attend the World Press Freedom Day. Dr Jabbar gave a lecture to senior students of Male' schools on the topic of "Role of Media in Buidling a Democracy." As a side programme to mark the World Press Freedom Day this lecture was facilitated under the Press Forward Maldives campaign. -
High Tea - WPFD
On the evening of 1 May 2007, a high tea was organised in the island of Bandos for the foregn media delegation and editors of local media organisations. This tea was arranged by the Ministry of Information inorder for the local editors to get to know the foreign delegation before the World Press Freedom Day conference began. -
General Meeting - WPFD
Maldives governmnet with UNESCO and AMIC marked the South Asian Regional World Press Freedom Day in the Maldives from 2 - 3 May 2007. Close to 70 local journalists attended the conference while 15 foreign delegates from the South Asian region who are experts in the field of media, took part in this conference. -

Media Sensitization Workshop - 1 (10 February 2007)
Second component of the Press Forward Maldives campaign is to conduct media sensitization workshops for various brackets of the public to create and increase awareness among the public about the media. The first sensitization workshop was held on 10 February 2007, for secondary and higher secondary school children of Male'. -

Press Forward Maldives - Inaguration Meeting
“Press Forward Maldives” refer to a project that contains a set of 12 monthly training programmes starting from January 2007 for journalists of the Maldives Media so that they may promote democracy, human rights, good governance and professional journalism. The project “Press Forward Maldives” is conducted by the Ministry of Information and Arts in association with credible international journalism organizations and is designed to address the immediate training requirements of local journalists.
